In 2018, the Department of Education published a report that confirmed that black students are disciplined disproportionately in schools across the country. This report, and others like it, have led to an increase in diversity training for educators and school staff. This training is often called Cultural Competence training, which is designed to help teacher relate better to students of other races or religions.
The Community Network Council has created a series of training courses to help local teachers related better to our students. This training has been designed by award winning academics, who have trained to understand interpersonal dynamics and race relations.
The Community Network Council provides regular training at schools in South King County, Washington. We have a robust curriculum for teachers work with African American students, and we continue to grow our curriculum to include other groups.
